Does anyone in these newsgroups know what this woman is talking about, when
she says that Bush is a direct descendant of the House of David (and she
claims she is, too).

When the moderator asked her what she meant, she said Bush's lineage can be
directly traced back to the House of David. This is the first time I heard
this, and I can't believe she just concocted it out of thin air. Is this a
story floating around somewhere?

Here's a clue: Jesus of Nazareth traced his lineage to the House of David.
It was prophesied by Isaiah (Isaiah 11:10) that the Messiah would spring
from the "Root of Jesse". Jesse was David's Father, so it was understood
that the Messiah would emerge from the House of David. Jesus'
contemporaries understood this to be a proof of his identity as Messiah.

Romans: 15 : 11-13
11And again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to him,
all you peoples."[a] 12And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will
spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will
hope in him."[b]

13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
