From www.dictionary.com

texan
adj : of or relating to or characteristic of Texas or its residents [syn:
Texan] n : a resident of Texas [syn: Texan]

Get over yourself. If his residency is here he's a Texan, no matter what
self-righeous definition you want to give the word.

From www.dictionary.com
texan
Texan] n : a resident of Texas [syn: Texan]
Does his inability to ride a horse disqualify him for having an
attribute uncharacteristic of a Texan? Hardly John Wayne, you know.

The accent is suspect as well. Kind of:

Texas + bad actor + Kennebunkport = George W. Bush.

And there is a bit of a sneer to it. Most Texans I've ever met are
quite well spoken. It is very New England-Ivy League elite to assume
that someone from the Lone Star state must be portrayed as a slurring
inarticulate boob.

You must be from Texas.

We can well understand your embarrassment of the drunken bush adopting
your home state as his own.

You'll notice you never see anyone from Connecticut jumping to point

You have confused the word "embarrassment" with PRIDE and "drunken"
with SOBER, and if anyone need an example of embarrassment, one need
only ask Tennesseans about how their privileged fortunate son of a
racist Senator couldn't carry his own state OR the state of his boss
in the last election. But no, you probably don't want to even think
about that, now do you?

I know several folks from Connecticut, have a best friend who lives
there, who are indeed mightily proud of a president who has turned an
inherited recession into a booming economy and is successfully waging
a war on terrorism on two fronts.

BWHAHAHAHA. Yes, the marginally irrelevant Dims here have REALLY shown their
utter desperation with this chestnut. Claiming that Bush was really born in
a liberal leftist city, in a state Gore won in 2000, instead of being a
cowboy? Works for me.....

Whenever I ask the dim bulbs here to spin the fact that Gore would *not*
have needed Florida in 2000 if he had won the state he "represented" for 20
years, they fall silent. I would too.

And hey, you forgot one-Gore ALSO lost the historically Democratic
stronghold of West Virginia in 2000. The DU types here don't like to spin
THAT state's loss either.

By the way, Gore's really NOT from Tennessee, if the Dim's own criteria is
any guide. He was in fact born in Washington, DC. And spent his childhood in
the penthouse of a luxury DC hotel. Therefore, Gore was the "ultimate,
inside the Beltway Insider" all of these many years. And STILL lost
Tennessee.

Oh, and as for Bush being born in New Haven,Connecticut, please remember
that as I note above, New Haven is in fact a LIBERAL college town. Oh, and
they have some of the BEST fried calamari this side of Italy...

I'd tell your friend first and foremost to stop waiting for a
president, any president, to hand him a job, and to get off his ass
and go look for one. Unemployment is down and has been going down,
thanks to the Bush recovery. There are jobs out there, but they are
not dotcom jobs filled with stock options, free food, company cars,
and other perks that some enjoyed for a few years during the tech
bubble economy of the late nineties...welcome back to reality.

Bush hasn't been AWOL - he's been in the White House - really, it was

spend liberal like Dean is going to move the economy in the right
direction, I'd ask him to please share whatever he's been smoking.

But do you have to be born in Texas to be a Texan ?

Forget worrying about him not being a texan - he is unAmerican. Moreover,
it looks like he is a Marsian as Mars was the god of war.
If he were a real American he wouldn't have wasted all of the budget surplus
that he inherited from the previous Administration and then go deeply into
deficit spending just to finish his little family war in Iraq, to pay off
his beneficiaries and cronies from oil industry and from the
military-industrial complex. That crowd too was hoping to gain from the
expected easy victory in Iraq: military suppliers would have new orders to
replenish the old equipment and the ordinance used up in Iraq, and the oil
companies were hoping to get easy concessions to pump oil out of Iraq.
Unfortunately for them, they underestimated the Iraqi resistance to the
idea. So, now there is no Iraqi oil to pay for the blitzcrieg in Iraq and
generations of Americans will now be paying for first destroying Iraq, then
for rebuilding it and then for feeding the Iraqis who used to be
self-sustaining before we messed up their country.

We're spending money that could feed the poor on educational efforts to
keep the poor from becoming obese. Sooner or later, some progressive
sort will realize punitive taxation is the answer.

It has been shown time and time again that "trickle down" economics don't
work. The rich just sit on the money and none of it makes it to those who
need it. I'm not advocating socialism.

Try again.

Maybe take a basic economics class along the way.

When the rich "just sit on the money", leaving it in demand deposit accounts
(checking accounts), that money becomes loan capital for the bank, which in turn
goes to finance business expansion.

Except the rich don't leave it sitting in checking accounts. That's idiotic.
It wastes money. At the very least, they put it in interest-bearing (savings)
accounts, or certificates of deposit. Those devices bear interest because of
their reduced liquidity: the bank can make longer-term loans with it, because
they don't have to worry about the depositor suddenly demanding all of his
money, or unpredictable amounts. So the rich sitting on the money again
generates business expansion elsewhere in the economy.

Except, if things are going well, they don't use CDs or savings accounts,
either. They invest in businesses, directly generating business expansion, at
the cost of potentially higher risk. This directly generates business
expansion.

Substituting deficit spending for taxation isn't a solution. Bush
has turned a large surplus (by his own reckoning -- he used it to
"justify" his tax cut for the wealthy) into a huge deficit (again by
his own reckoning). The deficit is much larger than the cost of the
Iraq war, too, so don't try to wriggle out by blaming that.

I am on a very small crusade to correct the common misperception that George W.
is a native Texan. He was in fact born in New Haven, Connecticut. Please help
keep the record straight, and correct any articles you see calling him a
"Texan." Thanks -- M9
Dumbass.

Bush is a Texan; he is not a "native" Texan.

Are you too stupid to comprehend that basic fact?

He may not be a native Texan, but he is a Texan. He did grow up there
(insofar as he grew up at all.)

Texan or non-Texan, though, the guy is still an idiot.
